2023 Conference

February 24 & 25, 2023

The Council for Minnesota Archaeology Conference for 2023 was held at the Historic Fort Snelling Plank Museum and Visitor Center. Dr. Katherine Hayes (University of Minnesota - Twin Cities) gave the Elden Johnson Lecture. Her talked was called Archaeologies of Collecting Institutions and was a hard look at who gave archaeologists the right to collect objects for museums. 2021 Virtual Symposium

February 26 & 27, 2021

Due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, the Council for Minnesota Archaeology hosted a virtual symposium in 2021. Excitingly, this allowed us to record presentations to share with you via YouTube. Check out the 2021 Conference Playlist. Rob Mann (formerly of St. Cloud State University) gave the Elden Johnson lecture. His talk was called A Haunting Past and Haunting Presence: The Archaeology of Civilian Military Forts Built During the Dakota-U.S. War of 1862.
